Auxiliary Bishop Andrew Cozzens

Every Sunday in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, you can attend Mass in English, French, Korean, Latin, Vietnamese, Spanish, Polish and other dialects. This diversity of language, culture and tradition is a true reflection of the body of Christ, for while we are many parts, we are indeed one body. How beautiful is it that while we may not understand the words at one of those Masses, we can still understand and participate?

The universality of our Catholic faith transcends borders and language, guided by eternal truths that include people of all backgrounds. Our Catholic schools are enriched by this diversity. Just as Jesus loved and cared for all people, our schools educate — and learn from — students from many cultures.

As 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 reminds us: “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body.”  We celebrate the uniqueness of each part and rejoice in the richness of the whole body as we journey together in our Catholic schools as one in Christ Jesus.
