Evangelizing through education

TEACHERS, SCHOOL LEADERS WILL ATTEND CATECHETICAL INSTITUTE FREE OF CHARGE

Bishop Andrew Cozzens and the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis are excited to offer a new faith-formation opportunity for archdiocesan Catholic grade school educators. In partnership with the Catholic Schools Center of Excellence (CSCOE)and the Archbishop Harry J. Flynn Catechetical Institute, the archdiocese is encouraging 100 teachers and school leaders to attend the Catechetical Institute free of charge. Participants will be recommended by their school leaders and parish priests.

Started in 2008, the Archbishop Harry J. Flynn Catechetical Institute is an ongoing formation resource for Catholic adults of the archdiocese who wish to deepen their knowledge of the Catholic faith and further their spiritual formation.

Its 1,200 graduates and current students are the greatest ambassadors of the incredible intellectual and spiritual formation offered in this program. The quality of the instructors and the strong bond of community are two strengths consistently noted by graduates of the institute. Already, many Catholic school teachers have benefited from this formation, and we are excited to be able
to make the Catechetical Institute more widely available as a resource for their continuing education and personal growth.

The intellectual and spiritual formation received through the Catechetical Institute is foundational for helping our teachers and leaders evangelize through education. Through no fault of their own, many of our school leaders have not had an opportunity to study the Catholic faith in a systemic and engaging way as adults. We hope participating in the Catechetical Institute will help them increase their confidence and credibility as witnesses of our faith to young people.

Teachers who have graduated from the program have mentioned what a gift the Institute has been to them as they seek to teach the faith to their students. By strengthening our teachers and school leaders in the faith, we ensure the best formation for our young people and strengthen our schools’ Catholic identity, as we answer the call to lead more young souls to Christ.
