Catholic schools confer distance learning ‘diplomas’ upon parents

Weeklong celebration will thank parents for their part in distance learning

May 26, 2020 — May 26 through May 29, the 79 metro area Catholic grade schools will celebrate Parent Appreciation Week to thank parents for their role in distance learning and show appreciation for their continued partnership in their children’s education.

The Catholic Schools Center of Excellence (CSCOE) has organized the week to include billboards around Minneapolis and St. Paul, a music video parody, distance learning “diplomas” sent to thousands of Catholic school parents, and a social media splash encouraging students to show extra love to their parents like extra household chores.

The CSCOE social media channels will celebrate parents throughout the week using the hashtag #EveryParentEveryDay on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

“Catholic schools have always seen parents as key partners in their students’ education,” said Gail Dorn, CSCOE President. “Now, more than ever before, parents have stepped up. We want to recognize the incredible job they have done and the many sacrifices they have made.”
